Francophiles celebrate Bastille Day

AActon— A group of more than 20 adult students and friends of French in Acton, commemorated Bastille Day on July 14.

These French students and Francophiles, led by Cynthia Edelman and Eve Fischer of French in Acton, celebrated Bastille Day with a three-course meal at AKA Bistro in Lincoln.

The group dined on caviar d‘aubergines (eggplant caviar), truite amandine (almond trout) and a gâteau de crêpes tricolore (French flag crêpe cake).

"Many of our students have been studying the French language and culture for several years. It only seems logical to celebrate this important French national holiday together and, in a small way, experience the culture here in the United States," said Edelman.

The evening was highlighted by French conversation and cheer, as well as the customary singing of the French national anthem. Those taking part included Éve Fischer of Stow.
