A group of 25 adult students and friends of French in Acton, the French language school in Acton, commemorated the French Independence Holiday together on Tuesday, July 16. Members of the group hailed from Acton, Bedford, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Harvard, Littleton, Stow, and Wayland.
These French students and Francophiles, led by Cynthia Edelman and Ève Fischer of French in Acton, celebrated Bastille Day with a three-course meal at The Local Table in Acton. The group dined on salade niçoise, boeuf bourguignon and crème brulée. The evening was highlighted by French conversation and cheer, as well as the traditional flag waving and singing of La Marseillaise, the French national anthem.
According to Edelman, director of French in Acton, this year's dinner marks our fifth annual Bastille Day Celebration. It is always great for our students to venture from the classroom into the real world to expose themselves to French culture, as well as experience additional linguistic opportunities.
