Affectionately known as "Madame" to her students, Cynthia Edelman has been the director of French in Acton since its inception in 2003. She has been teaching French to students of all ages in the greater Acton, MA area for sixteen years. Her French teaching credentials include a magna cum laude degree in French from the University of Richmond, as well as studies at La Sorbonne and l'Institut Catholique in Paris. Her French-language corporate experience includes work at Bull HN and Michelin Tire Corporation. She is a member of the American Association of Teachers of French. Cynthia draws on her living experience in Paris and her extensive travel in France to bring current expressions, cultural anecdotes, and an overall appreciation of the language to the classroom. She is joined by instructor Eve Fischer. Though a resident of the US for more than 20 years, Eve is French. She is originally from Paris’ 6th arrondissement and Brittany, the Northwestern region of France. She holds degrees from l'Université de Paris IV Sorbonne. Eve’s teaching experience ranges from technical translation work to classroom instruction. She is a member of the American Association of Teachers of French. She currently teaches several beginning and intermediate French classes at Showa Boston Institute for Language and Culture. The newest addition to French in Acton’s teaching staff is Muriel Wuillot. Muriel was born in the South of Belgium, near the French border, and worked several years in Brussels as a journalist before moving with her husband to Thailand where they lived for 8 years. They then spent 5 years in Mexico. It was in these two countries that she started teaching French to pre-school and elementary school-aged children. She also has several years of experience working with adult students. She is a member of the American Association of Teachers of French. In addition to French, Muriel teaches yoga classes. She currently is the editor of the newsletter published by the French association, Boston Accueil.
